Obituary for Eva Loretta Stark



(EVA) LORETTA WELSMAN Loretta Weisman died at her home in PerthlOnt. on October 1,1989, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Loretta was born September 1, 1921 to Morris and Edna Stark of Gilead Road, Picton. They later moved to Belleville where she attended Belleville Collegiate. She was very active in drama class. 

Loretta joined the army on September 2, 1942. It was in the army that she met her future husband Yoris Bruce (Bill) Weisman. She was a staff sergeant and also worked as a secretary for her husband. They lived in Kingston and then moved to Oshawa where they had two children, Kathy and Kevin. Then they moved to Ottawa where in 1964 Bill was posted overseas for four years. They spent 3 years in Paris,Frnnce and 1 year in Belgium. In 1968 they returned to Ottawa , where Loretta's mother had maintained their house for them. They made regular visits to the county seeing relatives at Salmon Point. In 1971 they moved to Picton where they purchased a variety store and gas station from Carl and Millie Branscomb. After 5 years they sold the business due to Bill's health. They travelled out to Regina to see friends and then to Florida. In 1982 Loretta's husband Bill died. After 2 years Loretta decided to move to Perth which her and Bill had wanted to do in their retirement years, They had a summer residence in Hopetown, just outside of Perth. 

Loretta lived in Maberly for 3 years then when her health started to fail she moved into a seniors apartment in Perth. It was shortly after this she passed away. 

Loretta was predeceased by her father Morris Stark and her husband Bill Weisman. Surviving Loretta are her mother Edna Mae Hopkinson of Perth, Son Kevin Weisman of Picton, daughter Kathy Cole of Picton, and her grandchildren Bruce, Adam, and Sara Cole. 

Pallbearers were Brian Beattie, Stephen Vickers, Randy Lyons, Bill Scott and Norman Willis, all of Picton. Honourable Pallbearers were her two grandsons Bruce and Adam Cole of Picton. 

The funeral service was held at the Hick's Funeral Home with Rev.L.Hart of Pennbrooke officiating on October 3, 1989. 

Friends and relatives were in attendance from Ottawa, Richmond, Maberly, Perth and Toronto.
